The concrete block industry in

Pakistan is growing at around 930 million dollars annually. There are an estimated 30 million units installed in roadways and bridges, which accounts for 16 percent of total value in the entire world of concrete block production. And it has no end to such projects. So, why does it cost so much the price of a concrete block varies according to its size. For example, the price of a 600m x 200m concrete block varies per 300m x 400m block. As you can see, there has never been a period when a concrete block was cheaper than now or ever before in this country.

If we compare our prices today against Pakistan then we will see that our prices have increased at least 10% every year since the last decade. It might be because of these reasons but also, due to globalization or lack of local production of concrete blocks, so prices are rising.

As a result of the high demand for roads and bridge building, a large percentage of the concrete block is imported to meet the needs of roads and bridge projects. This is where we come into play and get profit from that.

Concrete Block Type in Pakistan

There are three types of concrete blocks: flat, round, plate, and tube. Flat blocks cannot be used in-wall or beam building. Therefore, it is best suited to be used for reinforcing roads, bridges, culverts, driveways, hoarding, and other similar purposes. The round block type is for making floor concrete walls, ceiling concrete slabs, floor panel slabs, floor slabs, ceiling panel slabs, and so on. Plate (plate) is made primarily for replacing wooden partitions, door frames, window frames, and so on.

If you want to know how to make a concrete block at home, then here are two guides to help you with your project.

The easiest way to make concrete blocks is from scratch. You create one by cutting your mold and putting blocks together,

filling a container full of water, pouring the mixture into a mold, and then waiting 24 hours until the final product is dry. After it is done drying, you cut out a piece along with the mold. Now put two pieces of concrete block on top of each other and press them hard to pull apart.

While the wet concrete dries, cut another hole in the center of the block and pour some sand into it. Wet the excess liquid after the block is dry, and pour hot water over the hardened bottom block. Then, fill the tank up to about 1 inch. Lastly, let the drain out when the water fills up to 30 inches deep.

Next time you run a tap for the water of the block, use only part of the amount of sand and place it in the bucket. That way you can easily empty the whole thing and place it in a bucket in 30 seconds when your hand is dirty.

The alternative process is to buy a machine and do it yourself and pay for any labor. However, if you pay for something then, obviously, you will need to use less sand but still, some machines can do the same. A good example of using a machine is a Boring Brick Mixer (BBM).

This type of machine goes to a room where you build the block and once the block is ready for injection, you turn the switch over to a small pipe going through the wall and fill it with water. In this process, water flows down the pipe into a bucket and then out of a sink that is located just below your sink. This sink is then filled with the block and injected into the pipeline.

Once the process is complete, the pipe is filled up again with water. Finally, turn over the switch back to a standard pipe connected to the source.

When everything runs smoothly, start slowly to pump pressure up into your sink, turning to a higher pressure. In the meantime, the pipe is cleaned of sand and dirt, and now you have a nice block ready for setting up the first time.

The advantages of doing your own block-making are:

You can produce any shape of a block that you want and they don’t have to go anywhere else. The parts are already performed so you don’t have to worry about adding any new ones to it. Your block design will fit perfectly in almost all materials you choose, including concrete. You can decide what proportion of sand and clay you want, as well as anything else you want to use for the block mix.

The disadvantage of doing your own block-making is

It takes a long time. You can spend weeks, months, or even years getting the right proportions of sand and clay. If you want to get the most out of your block without spending money then, it would take you about six days to finish the job and create your own. But that’s not a problem as your block will look exactly like the original block, but it won’t hurt to get it right the first time and use it often to get nice-looking results.

 Concrete Block Pricing In Pakistan

In Bangladesh, most of their concrete producers import their concrete to Pakistan. From them, there has been a huge growth in the construction sector in recent years. It has become possible for people to live closer to nature thanks to concrete block buildings are becoming common.

Even though Pakistan’s economy has been very strong, the country still lacks proper infrastructure. The lack of proper infrastructure affects the construction sector.

So, companies in India turn their attention towards Pakistan, where there is the possibility of doing business in construction. The availability of cheap labor and low-cost land means that there is ample opportunity for those who want to invest in real estate development.

The lowest price of a 500m x 250m concrete block depends on where you buy it from and how much you want it to weigh. Normally, this is determined using the formula:

Flat Blocks – 52 x 96cm; Plastic Blanks – 48 x 112cm; Plain Blanks – 50 x 81cm; Porcelain Blocks – 44 x 90cm; Plastering Blocks – 38 x 120cm; Caster Blocks – 36 x 80cm; Polypropylene Blocks – 32 x 100cm

In the past, concrete block making was done manually, using chipper cranes, forklift trucks, tippets, and shovels. Today, technology has helped us to improve the system to a great extent but it’s still far from perfect. Some problems still exist such as:

The batch size that people will get when using machines is wrong. One batch will have different properties such as hardness, viscosity, or density than the rest of the batch or they will have properties that a particular customer wants. For eg: a brick has a stronger density than a mortar, so a brick will have a harder surface but won’t be as tough as a mortar. Similarly, your block won’t be as tough as a plastic brick. If you want to increase the weight to make a block stronger then, you should try to reduce the length of the bar, but keep the width of the bar as close as possible to the height of the block.

If you want to get more quality concrete, then, make sure to avoid mixing concrete on the edges with water. Water tends to flow inwards, which leads to uneven surfaces, creating problems. When you combine water and concrete at the edge of the block, the water starts to seep into the corners of the block, causing clumps and bubbles to form, which may cause problems when they are poured into pipes.

If you want to save on some energy, then, avoid placing your unit too tall on the ground, even if the floor area is not very high. Standing too high can force the water away from the block, causing clots to form and stains to develop. If you want more heat than cold, then, be sure to place your unit next to the stove and not under it or near the fridge.
